Better Late than Never

In August 2021 I had this great idea. I was going to become an ultramarathoner. I planned it out, I was going to have this blog and allow people to follow along. It was going to be an incredible accomplishment. I wrote my first blog post, but never hit publish. I never got started on my training either.

June 2022, the idea was back, but this time I was actually going to put thoughts to action. I wrote a new blog post, but again it was never posted.

Here we are now, June 2023.

I've always dreamed of running a 100 mile ultramarathon. The thought of conquering the mind and body is so fascinating to me. For whatever reason my ultra competitive mind says I'd be my very best if I could run a 100 mile race. I'm not in any position to currently tackle such a task, but I want to become my best self. My end goal today may not be a 100 mile ultramarathon, but it will be a better me.

In the book Atomic Habits, Author James Clear says:

"It is so easy to overestimate the importance of one defining moment and underestimate the value of making small improvements on a daily basis. Too often, we convince ourselves that massive success requires massive action. Whether it is losing weight, building a business, writing a book, winning a championship, or achieving any other goal, we put pressure on ourselves to make some earth-shattering improvement that everyone will talk about.

This was always meant to be a resource for me to hold myself accountable. Allowing others to follow along would allow them to help hold me accountable. I'll share my daily wins, my progress, and efforts to become my best self. I'll share my daily wins, especially the little things, and share my progress.

"...improving by 1 percent isn't particularly notable - sometimes it isn't even noticeable - but it can be far more meaningful, especially in the long run."
